A New Way To Think About Our Environment

eco-friendly

Sustainability Life

We are dedicated to sustainability and to protecting the environment for current and future generations of children. In order to do so, we deal with our waste the greenest way possible: Our organic waste goes into the composter, recyclable waste goes into the recycler, and our sewage waste goes into the digester to be utilized as gas fuel for the entire Ecovilla. We also use solar panels for power and an underground system utilizes water from our ponds to irrigate the land.

Orchard La Ecovilla

Regeneration

Formerly, the land where La Ecovilla was built used to be a cattle field. By planting thousands of fruit trees and our orchard, we managed to get the local wildlife back in their natural habitats. We hope to grow the majority of our food from our organic permaculture gardens. The property is already home to hundreds of fruit trees, medicinal plants and vegetables, and every Saturday morning each community member gets a share of the weekly garden harvest.

Harmony With Nature

Organic vegetables are grown in our green house and once a week each neighbour receives a basket full of fresh green seasonal vegetables.

Recycling Station Icon La Ecovilla

Recycling Station

We would love to have zero waste... but it's a long way to go! Until then, we recycle all our paper, glass, plastic or aluminum waste, and turn our organic waste into compost.

Fruit Tree Icon La Ecovilla

Fruits

All over La Ecovilla you can find and pick up fruits. Nature produces way more fruits that we can eat.

Ponds Icon La Ecovilla

Tilapia Ponds

The community contains 14 ponds, and many of them are stocked with Tilapia fish.

River La Ecovilla

Our River

We are located on the beautiful Rio Machuca. The water quality is perfect, and it is surrounded by many old-growth trees and is a wildlife corridor of great value. It’s great for swimming, rock-jumping, and cooling off in the summer.

Roads Icon La Ecovilla

Our Roads

Our roads are made from 100% recycled plastic. They are a grate-style which allows some water to permeate and be captured in the ground.
